WA Cares: Because every Washingtonian deserves a secure future, no matter what lies ahead

As someone in their mid- (OK maybe late) 20s, I often think about what I would do if there were to come a time when I’d need long-term care. I have never saved for this possibility and always think I will think about it as I get older.

The truth, however, is that needing long-term care can happen to any of us at any time. Car accidents, injuries at work, unexpected illnesses — the list goes on.

Earlier this week I found myself asking friends and family what their plans were if they ever needed assistance and the vast majority of answers were either “I don’t want to think about that” or “I will worry about it when I am older.”
