“In my thirties, I was diagnosed with breast cancer”

“I had to have a bilateral mastectomy. There was no one in my home to take care of me. You don’t have a plan in place for things like that, and so it was my 15-year old who was cooking or cleaning, making sure that I ate, watching over me in my sleep. That’s a terrible situation for a 15-year old to be in.”
